Knowing better I decided to take them on downwind. I had their location pinned. Good. But the wind was taking my `locker room’ scent straight toward them. Bad. Smelled, but unseen, they moved upstream, out of the location. At distance they lifted off, for freight of the human scent, flying directly at me – and once they spotted me, flared. I shot twice, hitting one Green, which started to lag from the group and eventually fell to ground a half mile away. I recovered him easily. I should have known better. I DID know better.
... 12 for 14 with one bird lost.
